Can You Use an XMAX V3 Pro or V4 Pro With a Water Pipe? WPA and Bubbler Options Explained

Yes: the XMAX V3 Pro and XMAX V4 Pro can be used with a water pipe through the Vapetrix 10/14/18 mm glass WPA, or you can skip the separate water piece and use our all-in-one 130 mm water bubbler. Both are made for the V3 Pro and the V4 Pro, and both need a compatible black plastic base (mount), which is not included and which we do not sell.

“WPA” means water pipe adapter. It is a glass piece with a male joint that plugs into the female joint of a water pipe. This guide explains what each option does, how to choose between them, and what to check before you order. For the rest of the range, see the XMAX V3 Pro and V4 Pro accessories collection.

10mm, 14mm and 18mm WPA for using an XMAX V3 Pro or V4 Pro with a water pipe

1. Your Three Ways to Cool the Vapor

  1. Water pipe adapter (WPA): connects the XMAX to a water pipe you already own.
  2. Water bubbler: a small glass piece with its own water chamber. No extra water piece needed.
  3. Cooling beads stem: a longer glass stem that cools the vapor without water.

All three are glass pieces that use the black base. We do not make or sell that base, so please make sure you have it before buying any of them.

2. Using the WPA With a Water Pipe

The 10/14/18 mm WPA is a stepped borosilicate glass adapter. It is designed for female water pipe joints of 10 mm, 14 mm or 18 mm, which covers most common glassware. The vapor then passes through the water in your pipe before it reaches you, which many people find smoother.

The trade-off is size. You are attaching a small device to a full water pipe, so it is best for home use on a stable surface. You will also need to own a water pipe. Use whichever water pipe you already have. If you want a small extra water piece, we stock a compact 14 mm female water filtration bubbler for dry herb setups that use a 14 mm male adapter. Because our WPA has a 14 mm male step, the joint sizes can match, but check your own pieces before you buy.

3. The All-in-One Water Bubbler

The 130 mm Water Bubbler is the simple route. It has a built-in water chamber and a curved mouthpiece, so there is nothing else to buy apart from the black base you should already have. It is smaller and easier to handle than a full water pipe, and it is easy to keep on a desk.

Two points from the product listing are worth repeating. Add only a small amount of water and do not overfill it. And always remove the bubbler from the device before you fill, empty or clean it, so that no water gets into the electronics.

4. No Water: the Cooling Beads Stem

If a water piece sounds like more effort than you want, the 130 mm Glass Cooling Beads Stem is the dry alternative. Glass beads inside the stem give the vapor extra surface to cool against. It will not filter through water, but it is easy to clean and carry. Our comparison of XMAX V3 Pro glass mouthpieces covers the stems in more detail.

5. Checking Joint Sizes

A WPA only works if the male joint matches the female joint on your water pipe. Look for a size marked on the joint, usually 10, 14 or 18 mm. If you cannot find it, measure the opening. Our stepped adapter is made for all three sizes, so you do not need to pick a size at checkout. If you also own an Arizer Solo 3, the same size rules apply, and we explain them in our Arizer Solo 3 water pipe guide.

6. Safe Use and Cleaning

Water and electronics do not mix, so a few habits help. Set up on a flat, stable surface where a knock is unlikely. Fill the water piece while it is off the device, not while it is attached. Empty it before you move it or carry it anywhere. And keep the device itself dry: if any water reaches the base, stop using it and let it dry completely before you use it again.

  • Keep water pieces upright and away from the device base while they hold water.
  • Never blow water down towards the device.
  • Clean the glass with isopropyl alcohol, rinse with warm water and let it dry fully before use.
  • Handle carefully over a soft surface, as it is glass.

7. Common Questions

Does the V4 Pro need something different from the V3 Pro? Not for these three items: the WPA, the water bubbler and the cooling beads stem are all listed for both models.

Is the black base included? No. It is a separate part that we do not sell, and the glass will not work without it.

Do I need to buy a water pipe from you? No. The WPA is for use with your own water pipe, as long as the joint size matches.

8. WPA or Bubbler: Which One?

  • You already own a water pipe: choose the WPA.
  • You do not, and want a compact set-up: choose the water bubbler.
  • You want to avoid water altogether: choose the cooling beads stem.

Final Thoughts

A water pipe is optional on the XMAX, but the glass to use one is available for both the V3 Pro and the V4 Pro. Choose the WPA if you already have a pipe, the bubbler if you want everything in one piece, and remember the black base.
